Passion of the Pit Bull... Know Your Rights... The American Pit Bull Terrier is being banned in counties all across America at an alarming rate. Please read all the information on this page and do your part in stopping the extinction of our beloved breed. The time has come to take action. I urge you to write the media and legistators and let them know that the slanderous comments about our breed is entirely UNACCEPTABLE!!! Responsible pit bull owners far out number those that are using them for illegal purposes. It is high time the public learned and accepted the truth about this noble breed. WE MUST BE HEARD! Without our voice, the breed has no future. Write the media, write the animal cops, write the networks (Animal Planet) and tell them you DO NOT find dog bites and the confiscation of supposed "pit bulls" news worthy. Below are borrowed examples of letters that will help the cause. Don't just sit there and wait for someone else to take action. The breed is out of time!!! Please select the form letter that best suits you and what you want to say....change the words if you like...BUT send SOMETHING!!!!

Still think it can't happen to you? READ THE CONSTITUTION. Most of the laws on the books are unconstitutional.
RIGHTS
COME FROM GOD, NOT THE STATE!
LAW OF THE LAND It is impossible for a law which violates the Constitution to be valid. "All laws which are repugnant to the Constitution are null and void." Marbury vs. Madison, 5 US (2 Cranch) 137, 174, 176, (1803) "Where right secured by the Constitution are involved, there can be no rule making or legislation which would abrogate them." Miranda vs. Arizona, 384 US 436 p. 491. The general rule is that an unconstitutional
satute, though having the form and the name of law, is in reality no law,
but is wholly void, and ineffective for any purpose; since unconstitutionality
dates from the time of its enactment, and not merely from the date of the
decision so branding it.
A SUMMARY OF THE TEN COMMANDMENTS The TEN COMMANDMENTS represents GOD'S GOVERNMENT
OVER MAN! GOD commands us for our own good to give up wrongs and not rights!
HIS system always results in LIBERTY and FREEDOM! The constitution and
the Bill of Rights are built on this foundation, which provides for punitive
justice. It is not until one damages another's person or property that
he can be punished. The Marxist system leads to bondage and GOD'S system
leads to LIBERTY! Read very carefully:
INALIENABLE, [UNALIENABLE] OR NATURAL RIGHTS! NATURAL RIGHTS ARE THOSE RIGHTS such as LIFE (from conception), LIBERTY and the PERSUIT OF HAPPINESS eg. FREEDOM of RELIGION, SPEECH, LEARNING, TRAVEL, SELF-DEFENSE, ETC. Hence laws and statutes which violate NATURAL RIGHTS, though they have the color of the law, are not law but impostors! The U.S. Constitution was written to protect these Natural Rights from being tampered with by legislators. *Further, our forefathers also wisely knew that the U.S. Constitution would be utterly worthless to restrain government legislators unless it was clearly understood that the people had the right to compel the governement to keep within the Constitutional limits. "Government is established for the protection of the weak against the strong. This is the principle, if not the sole motive for the establishment of all legitimate government. It is only the weaker party that lose their liberties, when a government becomes oppressive. The stronger party, in all governments are free by virtue of their superior strength. They never oppress themselves. Legislation is the work of this stronger party; and if, in addition to the sole power of legislation, they have the sole power of determining what legislation shall be enforced, the have all the power in their hands, and the weaker party are the subjects of an absolute government..." HOW DOES THE TYRANNY BEGIN? WHY ARE THERE SO MANY LAWS? When people acting in the name of government violate
ethics, they break trust with "WE THE PEOPLE." The natural result is for
"WE THE PEOPLE" to pull back power (honor and allegiance).
"The people are the masters of both Congress
and courts, not to overthrow the Constitution,
"Those people who are not governed by GOD
will be ruled by tyrants."
The Following was taken from a message board... If you rescue Pits or Pit Mixes you need to do
your research about the breed. ALL PIT BULLS are from fighting stock, whether
recent stock or 30 years ago. Just because you don't hunt beagles, does
that eliminate them as hunting dogs? Do you still have to be careful not
to let a beagle loose in the woods and watch it doesn't catch a scent and
trail it and get lost? Same with these dogs. Common sense. You have a Pit,
pit mix you need to watch it around other dogs. ANY DOG WILL FIGHT. I grew
up with a mutt that hated every dog he came in contact with and had at
least 4 dog fights out in the country. Any dog will fight, any pit/pit
mix can fight, THEY ARE ANIMALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take precaution as you would
with ANY dog, whether the dog has scars or not.
The following is taken from a thread in the Southern Gamedog Forum... For years the Pit Bull Community has never become bored with writing articles for our various magazines bemoaning the idiotic actions of the news media and the general public concerning our breed. Indeed the current “Pit Bull Craze” far exceeds the foolish “Doberman Craze” of the seventies. But when we write these articles in the Pit Bull magazines – we are writing to ourselves! We all know what an American Bulldog is. Nobody –NOBODY – writes the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT and complains or INFORMS! Well – NOW IS THE TIME! Do you want to be heard??? Do you mean what you say when you proclaim over my dead body etc.? Then write. The law is about to go one way – or the other. It is like – in Virginia it is legal to smoke in stores. That happened because American citizens in Virginia who are smokers combined their efforts and petitioned and wrote letters and voted against making it being illegal to smoke in stores whereas in North Carolina (home of tobacco) it is illegal to smoke in stores. Why?– enough American citizens in North Carolina sent out and signed piles of petitions and wrote senators etc. so that smoking would be prohibited. Bull Fighting videos are considered “educational” in some states because enough of America’s artists and education people would fight it – AND THE GOVERNMENT KNOWS IT! The point is not whether or not I agree with smoking in public places or not – the point is – you don’t move the government by being silent – you move the government by standing up and being heard. Write letters that proclaim that the magazines, and books, and videos, and tee shirts DO NOT promote dog fighting in America – at all. They simply provide historical memorabilia and INFORM AND EDUCATE. That American citizens have a RIGHT here in America under our constitution framed by our FOUNDING FATHERS – to JOURNALIZE as we wish and that NO HARM IS INDUCED BY OUR BOOKS, VIDEOS, MAGAZINES OR MEMORBABILIA. As it is currently written, the law allows a great deal of personal interpretation on the part of law enforcement agencies – the law is much too vague and can in effect lead to entrapment on the part of the government. I’d like you to understand the overwhelming and deep despair in which I find the American Government can infringe on the lives of innocent citizens and make them victims – and for no other reason than the senseless and selfish motivation than that they want a “collar” and enhance their own record. And the American citizen who is not blessed with a million dollars to defend themselves – has absolutely no control over it. Do you know that one word – just one word – could change the entire destiny of the American Pit Bull Terrier? Yes I said American. It is the most American breed we have – and the most persecuted by the public and now the government. The legal destiny and therefore the right of the entire legal realm of the show ring and field trials for the American Pit Bull hinge on this one word. That word is - - -Honesty. And to those political and governmental special interest groups that denigrate the American Pit Bull – the illegal aspects of the outlaw breed as it has evolved to in this modern era – has been and will be caused primarily – by the news media and a minority of individuals who seek political gain and personal monetary influence with their lies and sensationalism that attract sick people to follow suit. Their senseless persecution of those who seek to make the American Pit Bull Terrier part of mainstream America is shameful. “The price of LIBERTY - - is eternal VIGILANCE”. That means if we don’t watch over the government – any government - and take a part in the formation of laws, we will be harmed by the government. Since the American Revolution, American soldiers have fought to keep our country free. Now it is time for the pen to be the sword. Who said that “The price of Liberty is eternal vigilance”? Thomas Jefferson, a Virginian. Government is not reason, it is not eloquence
– it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.
Who said that? George Washington. It is still about government by the people.
Government by the people.

The Stories Behind the Statistics
Today's media is filled with sensational headlines of dog attacks. Routinely quoted in these newspaper accounts are dated statistics from the Centers for Disease Control. The last CDC study released documented which breeds of dogs caused the most human fatalities from 1979 through 1998. While the CDC did an admirable job of studying fatal dog attacks, and went to great lengths to point out that irresponsible owners were the cause of most of these incidents, the media and lawmakers continue to use CDC statistics to substantiate claims that certain breeds of dogs are inherently more "vicious" than other breeds. The result of sensationalizing individual incidents of severe or fatal dog attacks, included with the use of unexamined statistical "evidence" has created an unfortunate and inaccurate public and political perception as to the dangerousness and predictability of certain breeds of dogs. Despite enormous public and political interest in fatal dog attacks, there is no agency or organization that does investigative work (with the exception of this study) into each of the individual cases of fatal dog attacks and records the number and circumstances of fatal dog attacks on a continuous, yearly basis. This study is conducted in an attempt to understand the human and canine behaviors that contribute to a fatal dog attack. Only in understanding the events and circumstances surrounding these incidents can we hope to prevent future tragedies. STUDY FINDINGS:
While many circumstances may contribute to a fatal dog attack, the following three factors appear to play a critical role in the display of canine aggression towards humans; Function of the dog - (Includes:
dogs acquired for fighting, guarding/protection or image enhancement)
Owner responsibility - (Includes:
dogs allowed to roam loose, chained dogs, dogs and/or children left unsupervised,
dogs permitted or encouraged to behave aggressively, animal neglect and/or
abuse)
Reproductive status of dog - (Includes:
unaltered males dogs, bitches with puppies, children coming between male
dog and female dog in estrus)
THE BREED FACTOR
Since only an infinitesimal number of any breed is implicated in a human fatality, it is not only unreasonable to characterize this as a specific breed behavior by which judge an entire population of dogs, it also does little to prevent fatal or severe dog attacks as the real causes and events that contribute to a fatal attack are masked by the issue of breed and not seriously addressed. Pit Bulls in particular have been in a firestorm of bad publicity, and throughout the country Pit Bulls often bear the brunt of breed specific legislation. One severe or fatal attack can result in either restrictions or outright banning of this breed (and other breeds) in a community. While any severe or fatal attack on a person is tragic, there is often a tragic loss of perspective as to degree of dangerousness associated with this breed in reaction to a fatality. Virtually any breed of dog can be implicated in a human fatality. From 1965 - 2001, there have been at least 36 different breeds/types of dog that have been involved in a fatal attack in the United States. (This number rises to at least 52 breeds/types when surveying fatal attacks worldwide). We are increasingly becoming a society that has less and less tolerance and understanding of natural canine behaviors. Breed specific behaviors that have been respected and selected for over the centuries are now often viewed as unnatural or dangerous. Dogs have throughout the centuries served as protectors and guardians of our property, possessions and families. Dogs have also been used for thousands of years to track, chase and hunt both large and small animals. These natural and selected-for canine behaviors seem to now eliciting fear, shock and a sense of distrust among many people. There seems to be an ever growing expectation of a "behaviorally homogenized" dog - "Benji" in the shape of a Rottweiler. Breeds of dogs with greater protection instincts or an elevated prey-drive are often unfairly viewed as "aggressive or dangerous". No breed of dog is inherently vicious, as all breeds of dogs were created and are maintained exclusively to serve and co-exist with humans. The problem exists not within the breed of dog, but rather within the owners that fail to control, supervise, maintain and properly train the breed of dog they choose to keep. CANINE AGGRESSION - AN OVERVIEW
Examination of newspaper archival records dating back to the 1950's and 1960's reveal the same types of severe and fatal attacks occurring then as today. The only difference is the breed of dog responsible for these events. A random study of 74 severe and fatal attacks reported in the Evening Bulletin (Philadelphia, PA) from 1964-1968, show no severe or fatal attacks by Rottweilers and only one attack attributed to a Pit-Bull-type dog. The dogs involved in most of these incidents were the breeds that were popular at the time. Over two thousand years ago, Plato extolled a basic understanding of canine behavior when he wrote "the disposition of noble dogs is to be gentle with people they know and the opposite with those they don't know...." Recently, this fundamental principal of canine behavior seems to elude many people as parents allow their children to be unsupervised with unfamiliar dogs and lawmakers clamor to declare certain dogs as dangerous in response to an attack. Any dog, regardless of breed, is only as dangerous as his/her owner allows it to be. Addressing the issue of severe and fatal dog attacks as a breed specific problem is akin to treating the symptom and not the disease. Severe and fatal attacks will continue until we come to the realization that allowing a toddler to wander off to a chained dog is more of a critical factor in a fatal dog attack than which breed of dog is at the end of the chain. Only when we become more knowledgeable, humane and responsible in our treatment of dogs can we hope to prevent future tragedies. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS - COLD STEEL PITS |
